Rebirthing - Conscious Connected Breathwork
What is Rebirthing / Conscious Connected Breathwork?
Rebirthing, or Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) is a guided breathing practice that helps you connect deeply with your inner self. It can help you release held or suppressed emotion, and awaken your innate inner wisdom.
The connecting of the conscious and unconscious can help your body feel safe enough to bring up unresolved emotion to allow you to begin to heal. Time spent in this altered consciousness can be very restorative as you access your parasympathetic nervous system.
Benefits
Stress Reduction
Trauma Release
The energy it takes to hold unprocessed trauma can lead to anxiety, depression, low or volatile mood, pain and illness in the body and reduced resilience to stress.
Fatigue is also common when holding trauma in the body. CCB can help you to begin to heal and release held trauma, allowing your body to heal and restore.
Trauma can be held in the body even if we haven’t consciously recognised that we have experienced trauma.
The unresolved issues of the parent can pass down to the next generation even if that parent has the best of intentions. Lack of attunement from a parent can cause trauma and unhealthy beliefs in a child that get carried through into adulthood. A perpetually stressed, anxious, unwell or bereaved parent may be less available for their child’s emotional needs.
Trauma can build in the developmental years or be due to specific incident. What one person finds traumatic may not cause a trauma response in another. This is due to factors such as the amount of adverse childhood experiences an individual has experienced, and if there was enough good enough support at the time of the experience.
Emotional Stability
The release of suppressed emotion can help to balance your nervous system which in turn can lead to greater emotional stability and resilience. This can create an upward spiral where you are less affected by past triggers in daily life and spend less energy attempting to cope.
We can have unhealthy go-to reactions to stressors such as reaching for alcohol, shouting, turning to food for comfort, taking drugs (this list could go on…). Increased emotional stability and resilience means we are less likely to turn to these unhealthy attempts to feel OK, enabling us to respond rather than to react.
Improved Mental Focus
CCB increases oxygen to all parts of your body, including your brain. This can enhance your cognitive function and help your levels of concentration, clarity and focus.

What Happens in a Session?
We will have a chat about where you are at and what you would like to focus on before the breathe. The technique will be demonstrated to you and the process explained so that you are aware of what may happen during the breathe. We will check for contraindications then move you to a laying position for the breathe itself.
Once comfortable, you will be guided into relaxation through a guided body scan-esque meditation. We then move onto the circular breathing technique where I continue to provide guidance. The last phase of the breathe is the integration, there is little guidance during this phase to allow you to be with your experience. After this, I gently bring you back to the room where we can move into gentle enquiry about your experience if you wish. While we won’t move into a psychotherapy session, you will be supported if needed by a trauma informed Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. You may wish to just be with your experience and not talk it through.
The breathe may take between 40 and 60 minutes, depending on the agreed length of the session and your preferences. The three parts to the breathe are:
- Guided Meditation
- Guided CCB
- Integration (little to no guidance)
The more sessions we have, the more we can tailor the parts to your individual preferences.
The technique itself involves circular breathing, with no pause and no forced outbreath. The outbreath is a ‘let go’ followed instantly by the next inhale.
A minimum of three sessions is usually recommended, ideally aiming for 6 – 10 every three to four weeks but it can depend on your own needs and goals.
Breathwork sessions can be carried out individually or in small groups, face-to-face or online
The Gift of Breathwork
Conscious Connected Breathwork can bring awareness to places where tension, emotion, or old energy is stored.
It creates a state where your body can naturally release what it’s ready to let go of.
Because it quiets the analytical mind, breathwork can help you access deeper layers of your inner world—intuition, emotion, memory, and inner-child needs.

Robust Training
My training to become a Conscious Connected Breathwork Practitioner is robust and thorough. I am half way through my 2 years and seeing clients at a reduced rate.
It takes 400 hours of live small group training over 2 years, a minimum number of client work and supervision, a minimum number of breathes myself, 5 full weeks of training, presentations and course work to receive full qualification.
There are many short courses out there however I have always researched and joined the most thorough and robust training I could find.
Any question, please head to the Contact Page and let’s start the ball rolling on your first Conscious Connected Breathwork session.
